Overview

Located strategically in the centre of an esteemed township in Pune, Urban Park sets an example of thoughtful integration of Nature with art, ecology and sustainability. As the breathing lung to the township, this 5-acre plot welcomes hundreds of people daily.

Site of the park is highly eco-sensitive zone and considered rich in biodiversity. While designing, nature has given topmost importance and spaces have carved out to merge with the existing site context. With a systematic framework of urban requirement & ecological balance, park comprises of various amenities for visitors of all age groups. As a part of sustainable design approach, specially designated area powered by solar power, added for smart generation to work with nature around them.

Challenge

Design with retaining more than 95% of trees while also providing classy ambience and connecting the two was a challenge. Working on natural topography and maintaining the actual site levels was a task. However, with the help of Sketch-up 3D views our team got through with this. Site topography with actual locations of trees were easily marked and the design carved out with the help of sketch up. Sketch up library helped us to give the idea of tree and shrubs on the site.

Solution

SketchUp is perfect for landscape and site design, SketchUp has that all built in natively. Software is remarkable in six aspects, which are design concept, space design, global design, real-time rendering, usability, and data interchange. The application of sketch up in landscape design lead us to improve the efficiency of landscape project. For the large-scale project like this, 3D views are of great help. It supports the design and elements because of which project from sketch to reality is practically possible for our design team. Further, with these models MEP or structural teams gets exact idea of the designed space & element that effect the overall timeline of the project, saving time and money.

All the modelling tools in SketchUp were great help to Kori team. From site terrain, levels difference to 3D visual with light effects lead to a successful project implementation. With the help SketchUp, workflow during the project concept to construction phase became easy. Our project Urban Park has achieved great appreciation and recognition in the society.
